Medical Assistant (MA)

The Department of Dermatology, Cosmetic Center is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) who will function as an integral member of the clinic team. Mandatory rotation between general Dermatology, Cosmetics, and Surgery. Responsible for direct patient care and clinic operations, including the maintenance of the environment of care and supplies / equipment. Will share the responsibility with other clinicians in ensuring a safe environment for the patient while providing quality care and a positive patient experience. Will function clinically under the authority of the physician within the scope of their certification. Will report to the Clinic Manager, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and direction of staff, orientation and annual assessment of competencies, and the assurance of clinic-specific policies and procedures. May be asked to float between other JHU Dermatology clinics where care is similar and / or competence is evaluated, suggesting the individual is capable of providing complete and correct patient care.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities :

• Operate electronic monitoring equipment.
• Input and obtain data, determine appropriate information and resources needed related to clinical situation, and organize and summarize information.
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members to foster optimal quality of outpatient care.
• Uses general physiological monitoring equipment, including but not limited to vital signs machine (automated & manual), height, weight, cardiac monitor, ECG, point-ofcare equipment, sterilization equipment, scopes, and emergency equipment etc.
• Identify signs indicative of a changing patient care situation and notify the appropriate individual based on the issue.
• Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
• Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, takes appropriate clinical actions using available resources to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Independently prioritizes daily tasks and assignments.
• Follows established policies and procedures.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Starting Salary Range : $15.40 - $23.25 / HRLY (Targeted $46,000.00, Commensurate with experience)

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
