Overview

25-26 - La Follette - Track and Field Head Coach (Boys and Girls) at Madison Metropolitan School District. This position leads the Track and Field program for both boys and girls at La Follette High School.

Hours for This Position

In Season : Monday - Friday, 4 : 00 - 6 : 00 pm; Meet days may include additional hours (4 : 00 - 10 : 00 pm on meets; Saturday meet days 7 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm). Off season : 20 hours per month.

Purpose of Position

Seeking a high-quality and engaging Track and Field Program Head Coach to provide leadership in building a high-performing Track & Field program. Candidates should motivate student-athletes to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork, demonstrate a sincere interest in young people, contribute to school culture, and be willing to establish a youth program to partner with the high school program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise the Track and Field program coaching staff, including Associate Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee training of the Track and Field program in conjunction with other coaches.
• Develop training plans for the Track and Field program in conjunction with other coaches.
• Assist in overseeing the running of events as needed and as directed by the Athletic Director.
• Direct competition planning for other coaches.
• Attend and coach at all practices.
• Attend and coach at all events.
• Monitor program members' school and practice attendance, event participation, and academic performance (grades).
• Enforce program policies and team expectations.
• Provide student-athletes with feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and skills.
• Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the Track program.
• Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director.
• Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the Track and Field program.
• In conjunction with associate head coaches, assign job duties.

Working Conditions

Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
