Toledo Clinic's Primary Care Department is seeking a full-time Phone Triage person to answer phones, triage calls, and schedule appointments in a high volume Primary Care office.
Qualified candidates will have previous medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology. This position is full-time with benefits and will be scheduled M-F, 8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm.
Must be comfortable on the phones handling patient calls.
General Summary :
Answers phone calls related to patient medical problems. Address patient questions with physicians and call patients back.
Follow Physician / Manager verbal orders related to patient care.
Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
- Answer patient telephone calls related to medical questions.
- Interact with physicians to get answers to patient questions and relay the information to patients.
- Prior authorizations
- Various clerical duties (i.e. : answering phones, scheduling appointments, etc.).
- Follow up with lab work and / or xrays.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Required :
- Excellent telephone skills required. 90% of this position requires talking on the telephone.
- Medical background to be able to triage patient questions appropriately
- Medical Terminology
- Previous experience in a medical office.
- Attention to detail and being conscientious to follow up with patients
- Must be able to work quickly and accurately
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
Education : High School Diploma

Preferred :
- RMA / CMA, ABR-OE, or nursing licensure preferred but not required
