Job Description

At CoBank, our Senior Financial Reporting Accountant prepares financial reports and analysis for regulatory and other agencies, shareholders, and executive management assuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements and financial reporting practices. Performs special projects that support the requirements of the Controller Division, including system testing and implementation work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares regulatory and shareholder analysis and reporting. Creates/maintains ad hoc reports to track financial data related to various key initiatives, as necessary.
• Prepares certain financial sections of CoBank’s annual and quarterly reports and customer communications to ensure adequate and appropriate disclosure.
• Compiles and reconciles all aspects related to loan reporting, which includes the management of loan data from CoBank’s affiliates.
• Maintains department controls, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx), and industry practice.
• Maintains current knowledge of accounting and regulatory rules and evaluates the impact on CoBank and District reporting. Researches accounting issues, recommends appropriate accounting treatment and assists in implementing such recommendations.
• Completes special projects for management as assigned, including system user acceptance testing and implementation work. Develops/maintains automated accounting system reports and spreadsheets.
• Oversees the process to request and collect necessary data outside of the financial reporting group to complete reporting deliverables, through collaboration with other groups within CoBank, as well as other Farm Credit entities.
• Assists with special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant discipline.
• Five (5) years of combined financial reporting, corporate accounting, and/or public accounting experience, preferably in banking or the financial services industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting concepts.
• Knowledge of Hyperion, Essbase, Hyperion reports studio and Hyperion SmartView preferred.
• Proven skills in financial reporting and analysis and technical writing.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage workload and projects, prioritize competing commitments, and complete assignments in accordance with established deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and build relationships with associates and management at all levels across the bank.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Compensation Information

• Estimated Base Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000
• Target short-term incentive opportunity: 11%
