Overview

Our government client is seeking an experienced UI / UX Designer on a hybrid 12 months renewable contract opportunity in Austin, TX .

Role : UI / UX Designer

Responsibilities

• Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with established accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
• Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI / UX design.
• Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure that design decisions are aligned with business objectives.
• Employ a comprehensive suite of tools including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimization strategies.
• Experience with AI / ML Interfaces : design user interfaces for systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with a focus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.
• Complex System Design : understand and design for complex business logic and regulatory requirements, particularly in domains like government services, healthcare, or finance.
• Data Visualization : present complex data and AI insights in a clear, concise, and understandable visual format.
• Empathy and User Advocacy : demonstrate a deep commitment to understanding user needs and advocating for user-centered design principles.
• Collaboration & Communication : excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present design solutions to stakeholders.
• Understanding of Accessibility Standards : knowledge of WCAG and other accessibility guidelines to ensure inclusive design.
• Bonus : Experience with eligibility determination systems or similar rule-based, data-intensive applications.
