POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Director of Application Development is a senior leader responsible for managing the software development team, which includes developers and business analysts. This role oversees the building, deployment, and maintenance of applications that align with business goals. Key responsibilities include creating and managing the development roadmap, overseeing project timelines and budgets, ensuring quality and security, and mentoring the development team. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, strategic planning, and strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and drive innovation.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify technology needs and make recommendations to business decision-makers.
Manage a team of developers and business analysts.
Develop and mature the IT DevOps framework and automation.
Work with other departments, such as business leaders and stakeholders, to gather requirements and translate them into functional software solutions.
Maintain company hardware and software programs.
Update technological equipment in the company.
Implement company-wide technology updates and hold sessions to mentor employees on new features.
Develop, implement, and monitor the day-to-day app development and incident management backlog to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
Draw on relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding delivery and strategic goals.
Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure timely and efficient task completion.
Devise strategies to drive program growth enterprise-wide, and implement process improvements to maximize output and minimize costs.
Adhere to the companys policies and standards, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Work closely with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Information Systems or related discipline.
Hands-on experience with software engineering and business requirements gathering.
10+ years of experience with large SaaS products such as Duck Creek or Guidewire.
Functional certifications on the Duck Creek or Guidewire product platforms preferred.
Minimum 7 years managing IT teams comprised of internal and external resources.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Up-to-date knowledge of the latest IT developments.
Ability to explain highly technical concepts in simple terms.
Knowledge of best computer security practices.
Strong research and analytical skills.
