Locations : Washington, DC / San Antonio, TX / Boston, MA
Clearance : Eligible for DoD Security Clearance (Top Secret preferred)
Travel : Up to 2x per quarter for sales events
About the Role :
- Rackner is seeking a Business Development & Capture Lead to own the full lifecycle of Air Force and DoD opportunities.
- This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-growing, technical consultancy and enjoys wearing multiple hats, from cultivating customer relationships to leading proposals that win multi-million-dollar contracts.
Who You Are :
Experienced & Versatile : 5+ years in federal business development, capture management, or hybrid roles; comfortable switching between BD and capture functions.Proven Closer : Demonstrated ability to lead pursuits from start to finish, ideally resulting in $5M+ contract wins.Air Force & DoD Savvy : Strong knowledge of acquisition processes, key contracting organizations, and federal program dynamics.Tech Fluent : Comfortable discussing DevSecOps, AI, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and software development with clients and partners.Organized & Self-Driven : Excellent time management, communication, and negotiation skills; able to balance BD networking with proposal execution.Tool-Smart : Familiar with CRM and pipeline tracking tools (Monday.com, Deltek GovWin) and presentation / proposal tools (Google Workspace, Canva, Beautiful.ai).Certifications a Plus : APMP Foundation, Shipley, or sales certifications like Certified Sales Development Associate.What You'll Do :
Full Opportunity Ownership : Identify, qualify, and pursue Air Force and broader DoD opportunities. Develop and execute capture strategies to secure awards.Customer & Partner Engagement : Build relationships with Air Force clients and industry partners; shape customer requirements and influence decision-makers.Proposal Leadership : Draft outlines, ensure compliance, manage technical inputs, and submit high-quality proposals, acting as a de facto proposal manager when needed.Business Impact : Track pipeline, forecast wins, meet growth targets, and capture lessons learned to improve future pursuits.Who We Are :
