Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Server for our front-of-house team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fine dining service, with a passion for hospitality and a commitment to guest satisfaction. As the Leaad Server, you will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure that all guests receive outstanding service in our small fine dining restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Fully participate in service to model service standards for the team.
- Train the serving staff to provide excellent customer service and uphold restaurant standards.
- Coordinate frequent menu updates with kitchen; design, proof and print all menu updates in advance of service; update menus on website and Google business listing.
- Develop templated training curriculum for servers on all aspects of menu, including purveyors, ingredients, cooking techniques and allergens. Lead regular training on menu updates so that staff is well equipped to educate guests on all aspects of dishes.
- Ensure all food handling and safety protocols are followed in accordance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to manage dietary restrictions and special requests for optimal guest satisfaction.
- Utilize Toast POS systems for order entry, payment processing, sales tracking, shift close and tip distribution.
- Manage reservations and seating arrangements using Tock and other reservation systems.
- Research familiarize team with guest profiles prior to each service noting any food writers, critics, bloggers, celebrities,
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism to maintain positive guest relations.
- Oversee bussing duties to ensure tables are cleared promptly and efficiently for incoming guests.
- Conduct regular inspections of dining areas to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and overall ambiance of the restaurant.
- Assist with cash handling and basic math functions related to billing and tips.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a lead server or similar role within the fine dining restaurant environment.Strong knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and food handling procedures.Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy setting.Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction and relationship building.Familiarity with Toast POS system is preferred; experience with Tock is a plus.Adept at Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Adobe) and Canva.Excellent attention to detail.Culinary experience or knowledge of food preparation techniques is advantageous.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership capabilities.Basic math skills for cash handling and billing processes are essential.Previous experience in the food industry or hospitality sector is required.
