Job Type : 13-Week Contract with Potential for Permanent Placement; Direct Hire
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Director of Nursing with strong experience in behavioral health to lead our nursing division. This is a senior role offering a $140,000-$155,000 annual salary range. The position may begin as a contract or direct hire, with the potential for permanent placement based on performance and alignment with facility goals. The successful candidate will ensure clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, operational leadership, and outstanding patient safety and quality outcomes in a behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide strategic leadership to the nursing department in a behavioral health facility : overseeing staffing, resolving clinical care issues, implementing best practices, and ensuring excellent care standards.
- Oversee the daily nursing operations in behavioral health : ensuring patient safety, managing high complexity clinical workflows, supervising clinical protocols, and maintaining nursing standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and accreditation standards (state, federal, The Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.). Regularly review patient outcomes, documentation, incident reports, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead risk management : direct investigations of clinical incidents, lead implementation of process improvement initiatives to mitigate risk, ensure staff adherence to safety protocols.
- Foster leadership among nursing staff : provide mentorship, coaching during clinical challenges, support for licensing / certification, maintain licensure compliance and competency.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership (COO, CEO, Quality, Clinical Directors) to align nursing services with organizational strategy, patient population needs, and facility goals.
- Act as a clinical and administrative leader, maintaining visibility on units, guiding staff in crisis or complex patient care situations, and ensuring consistency in clinical decision-making.
Qualifications :
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Masters in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred.Minimum 7-10 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 5 years in leadership or management roles, particularly in behavioral health settings.Extensive knowledge of behavioral health care practices, psychiatric treatment standards, safety protocols, legal and regulatory requirements.Exceptional leadership, decision-making, communication, and crisis management skills.Demonstrated track record of quality improvement initiatives, outcomes tracking, risk mitigation, and maintaining compliance in behavioral health.
