Summary

  • Participates in Public Health education programs and initiatives, health fairs and symposiums highlighting chronic disease with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer, asthma and other illnesses or conditions associated with these public health issues.
  • Strengthens community relations (coalitions, collaborations, etc.) through participation with community partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with community-based organizations to design and implement prevention education initiatives and assists in development of education programs.
  • Participates in planning and implementing Public Health education initiatives.
  • Educates individuals, families and groups regarding lifestyle changes and makes referrals.
  • Conducts outreach program activities.
  • Provides input on curriculum and program content.
  • Provides input on grant applications material for health education initiatives.
  • Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

NOTE : YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Health, Health Promotions and Education, Nursing or a related Science field.

TO APPLY, must have One (1) full-time year of experience in Health Education Program Development, Outreach Activities, and collaborating with agencies with a common interest in prevention .

TO APPLY, must possess a valid driver license . Experience with health impact assessment and MAPP preferred.

Spanish and English proficiency in oral and written communication preferred.

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment

at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.
