The Sourcing Engineer will lead efforts in exploring, developing, and validating opportunities for new products and new sources to add value to Elliott Equipments supply chain. The individual in this role will act as a technical interface between suppliers, engineering, operations, and supply chain to evaluate new alternative sources of supply. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Evaluate new products and product specs and validate they meet the requirements to replace current products.
- Evaluate new potential suppliers from a technical capability perspective.
- Support part approval and vendor qualification efforts.
- Support the creation of RFP and RFQ Packages.
- Answer supplier technical questions related to product, product manufacturing, and product application.
- Identify savings opportunities through VA and VE activities.
- Support the ECR and ECO processes to implement improvements in the supply chain.
- Support new product development to mitigate single and sole source risks.
- Guide the development of supply chain strategies based on market and product trends.
- Engage vendors in supplier development efforts.
- Support make vs. buy decision analysis.
- All other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Individual must possess these knowledges, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities :
- 3 to 5 years of experience in similar role.
- Technical knowledge in some of the key supply chain categories at Elliott Equipment including but not limited to Hydraulics, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural, and working knowledge of others.
- Demonstrated ability to learn technical and engineering skills.
- Experience working ECR and ECO processes.
- Working knowledge or ability to learn CAD. (Experience with Inventor is a plus)
- Understanding of lean principles and concepts.
- Experience leading change through VA and VE activities.
- Demonstrated ability to do basic financial analysis.
- MRP system knowledge required (MAX knowledge a plus).
- Communicates effectively with technical and commercial teams.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Intermediate computer skills, i.e. MAX, Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner WORKING CONDITIONS This role will have to spend time in office working conditions. Some travel may be required to evaluate suppliers or audit testing procedures. Travel is estimated below 15% of the time EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in engineering or technical degree with 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role.
- Lean training in basic lean principles and tools. Experience working with complex product structure in a manufacturing environment preferred.
