Job description
Responsible for fulfilling and preparing customer orders for shipment by selecting items from a warehouse, ensuring their accuracy and proper condition, and then packing them into appropriate containers. Key duties include selecting correct product sizes, carefully packing items to prevent damage, verifying products against order lists, maintaining production records, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Specialized skills like attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions are crucial, as is the physical ability to lift and move products. Responsibilities
  • Order Picking:Locating and selecting the correct products and quantities from warehouse inventory.
  • Order Verification:Checking selected items against customer orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Packing:Using appropriate box sizes and packing materials (like bubble wrap) to protect products during transit, ensuring items are neatly arranged.
  • Quality Control:Reporting any errors or damaged products to the appropriate team members or correcting orders before shipment.
  • Record Keeping:Maintaining daily individual production records for review by supervisors.
  • Safety and Cleanliness:Following proper packing procedures, using appropriate packaging for hazardous materials (including D.O.T. papers), and disposing of waste to keep the work area clean and safe.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Detail-Oriented:Essential for accurate picking, verification, and packing.
  • Good Communication:Needed to report errors and work with other team members.
  • Physical Stamina:The job involves standing, walking, lifting, and carrying products.
  • Ability to Follow Instructions:Crucial for adhering to packing procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Basic Math and Reading Skills:Required for verifying information and understanding order details.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent:Often preferred but comparable work experience is also accepted.
Specialized Tasks
  • Handling Hazardous Materials:Involves printing and attaching specific D.O.T. shipping papers and hazard labels.
  • Managing Temperature-Sensitive Orders:Processing orders that require ice packs or other indicators for shipment to climate-sensitive areas.
