Design Engineer

Selectek is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join a dynamic team in Bessemer, AL. This role focuses on designing new products, improving existing designs, and managing the product design lifecycle from conception to full-scale production. This is a direct-hire opportunity offering a salary of $90K+ and a 5% bonus.

Key Responsibilities :

Design and develop new products and improve existing designs using SolidWorks and FEA analysis.

Manage the product design lifecycle, including component design, prototyping, testing, and production implementation.

Document testing results in engineering test reports and develop detailed assembly procedures for the manufacturing team.

Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) events to identify potential failure models and implement preventive measures.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new products to market and redesign existing products for improved performance.

Represent the company at IEEE standards committee meetings and participate in high-voltage switch subcommittee discussions (preferred).

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

Minimum of 5 years of product design experience.

Expertise in SolidWorks, 3D CAD, and Finite Element Analysis.

In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including sand casting, permanent mold casting, machining, and welding.

Proven experience in bringing new products to market and improving existing designs.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience designing substation equipment or products for the power industry.

Familiarity with high-voltage switch designs and IEEE standards.

Compensation : $90K+ with a 5% bonus
