Director, Global Clinical Supply Chain
Gilead Sciences is seeking an experienced Director to lead end‑to‑end clinical supply planning on a global scale. The role requires a deep understanding of clinical supply chain best practices, GxP compliance, and cross‑functional collaboration in a fast‑paced biopharmaceutical environment.
Job Description
The Director works closely with Global Supply Chain and key functions such as Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Product Development & Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Project Management Office to formulate and execute supply chain strategies, meet project deliverables, solve business problems, and generate competitive advantage. Responsibilities span protocol design, manufacturing, distribution, and inventory management of clinical supplies at worldwide sites.
Essential Job Functions & Focus Area
- Serve as the clinical supply lead on Product Development sub‑teams for complex development programs.
- Lead development & execution of overall clinical supply strategy and management for clinical development programs, including management of investigational medicinal product (IMP) for assigned global trials.
- Oversee and support clinical study planners, facilitating issue and risk identification, mitigation, resolution, and communication.
- Drive decision‑making at cross‑functional teams supporting long‑term vision.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate supply risks at program level; lead visible, impactful process improvements and change initiatives.
- Author, revise, and review SOPs, work instructions, and business policies.
- Accountable for clinical supply budget of assigned programs.
- Review and approve statements of work, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Influence and drive program allocations at partners and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
- Contribute to strategic initiatives within GCSC, GSC, or PDM, including due diligence resource pools, global drug delivery community, and clinical supply integration following M&A.
Specific Education & Experience Requirements
12+ years of relevant experience in related field and a BS or BA; or10+ years of relevant experience and a MA / MBA.Key Knowledge And Skills

Manage planning, development, implementation, administration, and budgeting of production planning, purchasing, material control, inventory control, and shipping / receiving functions.Coordinate activities and resolve issues related to production planning, procurement, and material management for the department.Implement and maintain material control systems, ensuring a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.Ensure necessary personnel, equipment, material, and services are available to maintain acceptable inventory levels.Coordinate interdepartmental activities with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Contract Administration.Provide expertise and guidance in establishing and maintaining the production control system.Review, approve, and implement changes to controlled documents as needed.Develop new applications for the department based on professional principles.Compensation and Benefits
Salary range : $210,375.00 – $272,250.00 (base). The position may also be eligible for discretionary annual bonus, stock‑based long‑term incentives, paid time off, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc.).
