Assistant Project Manager
The Assistant Project Manager position is a critical role for the company. This individual will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager with planning and coordinating activities in the construction schedule. He or she will help with organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. This individual must have the ability to support the Project Manager in resolving field problems as they arise. He or she needs to have the ability to monitor job progress and understand construction financial and accounting practices.
Essential duties include supporting the Project Manager in driving project's overall flow effectively from inception to completion, reviewing contract and bid documents, assisting with project document control, ensuring documents are centrally saved, verifying correct drawings are distributed, assisting with schedule of values, supporting project schedule, requesting PO's for major equipment and subs, facilitating material takeoffs, attending necessary meetings, supporting accounting department in monthly billings, collaborating with foreman regarding project safety, gathering information for changes in work, assisting field personnel in closeout of project, obtaining as-builts from field, escalating critical issues to the Project Manager, complying with all company operating policies, and performing additional assignments as required.
Qualifications include minimum 3-5 years related experience in the electrical industry, a high school diploma or GED, pursuing a Bachelor of Science with an engineering or construction management focus, knowledge of the construction industry and documentation, working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with AutoCAD and other electrical, technical, or construction programs, familiarity with project management / document control software, familiarity with construction / financial software packages, integrity, honesty, professionalism, and commitment to company values, self-motivation, excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills, high standards of quality with attention to detail, ability to manage and supervise personnel, and the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English.
Physical demands include sitting, seeing, talking, and hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, occasionally lifting and moving up to 25 pounds, and specific vision abilities. The work environment may require commuting to field locations, working outdoors, being exposed to various conditions, and dealing with noise levels that are usually moderate to loud.
