Position Summary :
Supports daily pharmacy operations by assisting in the preparation, labeling, and distribution of medications. Ensures accuracy, safety, and compliance in all processes, while maintaining strong communication with both patients and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Works collaboratively with nursing staff, customer service, and delivery teams to coordinate new patient referrals and admissions.
- Collects and reviews patient, medication, and disease information to identify potential issues or clinical needs, escalating to a pharmacist when necessary.
- Responds to questions from patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, providing accurate information and referring complex matters to a clinician.
- Maintains detailed documentation of patient interactions, interventions, and communications in the pharmacy record system.
- Assists in scheduling and organizing the preparation of IV therapies and durable medical equipment under pharmacist supervision.
- Partners with pharmacists, nurses, and other team members to ensure smooth patient care coordination.
- Prepares prescription labels, compounding worksheets, and records product information including lot numbers and expiration dates.
- Prints delivery or pickup documentation and gathers required supplies and medical equipment for patient orders.
- Monitors patient inventory levels and communicates updates to pharmacists; records all communications and actions in the pharmacy system.
- Participates in team meetings, process improvement initiatives, and ongoing quality assurance activities.
- Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and accreditation standards relevant to home infusion and specialty pharmacy operations.
- Performs other assigned duties as needed to support pharmacy workflow.
Preferred Qualifications :
Completion of a recognized pharmacy technician training program; IV certification preferred.Active state pharmacy technician registration or license.National certification (CPhT) as required by state regulations.13 years of pharmacy experience in infusion, specialty, or retail environments.Working knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, calculations, and aseptic compounding techniques.Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.Excellent communication and basic math skills.Flexible availability for occasional evening or weekend on-call rotations.Proficient in interpreting and processing prescription orders accurately and independently.
