Employment Type : Full-Time | Compensation : $55,000 - $65,000 Annually, depending on education and experience.

At The Salvation Army Midland Divisional Headquarters , we're seeking a dedicated A / R Staff Accountant to join our Team. With a recent software upgrade , this role offers the perfect opportunity to bring fresh ideas, help shape new processes and be a key contributor to our long-term success.

What You'll Do

• Prepares deposits of General Fund cash receipts on a daily basis and posts receipts.
• Works with CDS staff, communicating donor information for thank you correspondence in accordance with agreed upon guidelines.
• Monitors and balances cash log, under the supervision of the General Fund Accounting Supervisor.
• Maintains the accounts receivable system, which includes entering new billings, adjustments to actual amounts billed, posting of receipts, printing and distributing invoices, and reconciling the general ledger accounts receivable balances to A / R system.
• Responsible for updated allocation methodology.
• Prepares, enters and updates thrift store revenue and files monthly sales tax returns for units timely
• Performs accounts payable backup duties as needed.
• Prepares, enters and updates journal entries, as approved by the supervisor, in the general ledger system.
• Reviews General Fund ledger activity, researches and corrects errors through journal entries as requested by the supervisor.
• Processes Service Extension Units' monthly data, which includes accounts payable, sales, and deposits, into the accounting software.
• Assists supervisor in reconciliations of various exchange accounts.
• Runs and distributes monthly ledgers and reports.
• Performs backup mail duties as-needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe From Harm Guidelines.
• Maintains positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions as : resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff and visitors; respect of others' property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.

What You Bring to the Team :

This position contributes strong accounting knowledge and hands-on experience, supported by a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and / or at least two years of relevant work experience. The individual will bring proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and computerized accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. As a self-starter and dependable team player, this role adds value through the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, maintain the highest level of confidentiality, and apply sound judgment in decision-making.
