Job description

Internship Program Overview

Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank. As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Program Operations & Logistics :
  • Prepare for interns arrival and support daily coordination of the High School Internship Program
  • Prep & host kick-off call
  • Manage intern schedules in Outlook
  • Assist with MTB processes (reimbursements, timesheets)
  • Ordering lunch for sponsored lunched days
  • Assist with field trip logistics (confirm headcounts, Prep liability waivers, organize transportation, support day-of coordination)
  • Assist with Summer Tech Day planning and execution (registration, partner engagement, volunteer coordination, on-site support)
  • Support planning and organization of summer activations
  • Youth Engagement & Support :
  • Serve as a point of support for interns (answering questions, assisting with project work, helping them navigate tools like Jira, etc.)
  • Help plan and facilitate icebreakers, energizers, or small group discussions as assigned
  • Provide peer-level mentorship by sharing perspectives on college / career exploration, professional skills, and workplace culture
  • Volunteer & Partner Engagement :
  • Track volunteer participation and assist with communications / reminders
  • Support preparation of volunteer-led sessions (printing materials as needed, hosting weekly prep sessions)
  • Support mentor relationships when possible
  • Communications & Documentation :
  • Communicate with interns before and during program
  • Capture program highlights (photos, testimonials, weekly recaps)
  • Draft weekly program updates for internal stakeholders and / or communications
  • Help manage and organize program data (attendance, assessments, survey responses)
  • Special Projects :
  • Support website project teams during the High School Internship (may help with content input, testing, or documentation depending on the intern's background)
  • Contribute to post-program reporting by helping compile survey results, volunteer hours, and participation data
  • Other :
  • Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank
  • Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required :

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Work Visa Sponsorship not offered for this role

  • M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00 per hour. The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
