Key duties and responsibilities

Clearing and resetting tables :

Wipe down and sanitize tables, chairs, and booths after guests leave, then set them with clean silverware, plates, and napkins.

Maintaining dining area cleanliness :

Continuously monitor the dining room, restrooms, and other areas, cleaning up spills, and performing general cleaning tasks like sweeping and mopping.

Restocking supplies :

Keep service stations, server trays, and other areas stocked with necessary items such as napkins, silverware, glassware, and condiments.

Supporting servers and staff :

Assist servers by refilling water glasses, running food or drinks, and helping with other tasks to ensure smooth service.

Assisting with dishwashing :

Help load dirty dishes into the dishwasher as needed.

Prepping for service :

Prepare the dining area before service begins, and assist with closing procedures, which may include cleaning and stacking chairs.

Requirements and qualifications

Physical ability :

Must be physically capable of standing and moving for the entire shift, and able to lift, bend, and carry items. The job requires stamina for tasks like wiping down tables, pushing a mop or vacuum, and moving chairs.

Teamwork :

Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, communicating well with servers, hosts, and managers.

Attention to detail :

Must be meticulous in cleaning and resetting tables to meet the restaurant's standards.

Speed and efficiency :

Needs to work quickly in a fast-paced environment to ensure tables are turned over promptly.

Positive attitude :

A friendly, courteous, and attentive demeanor is often required, even though the role is less customer-facing than a server's.
