Patient Account Representative - PT

Summary : This part-time role will be within the patient financial service department, also referred to as the business office. The responsibilities will begin with claim and charge posting, to go along with daily administrative tasks. Duties will eventually include insurance claim follow-up, denial management, assist patients with account inquiries, understanding financial assistance processes, and other projects and tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Claim and charge posting to patient accounts.

2. Daily administrative tasks (mail, phone, prepare bank deposits, etc.)

3. Understand financial assistance processes.

4. Assist financial counselor with Medicare bad debt

5. Insurance claims follow up.

6. Denial Management

7. Complete miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed by RCD and PFS team

8. Demonstrate initiative to improve efficiency / effectiveness of business operations.

9. Comply with all hospital policies and procedures as applicable for position including employee handbook, department and administrative policies and procedures, goals and objectives for self, department and performance improvement, safety compliance program, HIPPAA and confidentiality accreditation and survey standards and infection control.

10. Adapt to changing work assignments and comfortable serving diverse community.

11. Function well under stressful conditions involving other departments, workload, etc.

12. Keep knowledge and skills current via education activities, in-services and other training.

13. Perform related duties as needed including assisting others with their work..

Minimum Qualifications : High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in related field, preferred.

Experience : At least 2 years of experience in healthcare claims processing preferred.

Shift : 15 hrs / week; schedule will vary
