American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry / Stepdown position in an acute care setting, requiring a valid PA or compact RN license and strong cardiac skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 28-bed Stepdown / Telemetry IMCU unit within an acute care hospitalPrimary patient population includes cardiac patients with dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICUNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 for Stepdown, and up to 1 : 6 for MedSurg acuityTelemetry monitoring required with RN responsibility for reading and interpreting stripsResponsible for titrating drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; insulin is set-rate onlyCare for patients on Bipap, Cpap, and high flow oxygen; no sedation gttsEMR used is Epic; experience preferredWork schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A), with work every other weekend including Saturday and Sunday, and one winter holiday per assignmentFloating may be required to ICU as helping handsResponsibilities include monitoring cardiac patients, managing telemetry, titrating drips, and supporting patients with respiratory needsRN may be assigned as charge nurse during night shiftsSupport staff includes nurse aides during the day; no CNA coverage after 11pmHospitalist is in-house 24 / 7; Intensivist is available in ICU during daytime and on call after hoursRT and pharmacy coverage is available 24 / 7Scrub color is navy blue, including jacketsMust work within the holiday rotation alongside permanent staffA two-shift orientation with a preceptor is providedNot open to local travelers; candidates must live outside a 50-mile radiusReturning travelers must have a two-year break before reapplying if they have previously worked at any WVU Medicine locationCumulative travel assignments at WVU cannot exceed one year without a two-year breakPass / fail EKG testing may be required for consideration\n \n Requirements\n
Active PA or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years recent stepdown or telemetry nursing experience requiredCertifications required : Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips is requiredMust be able to titrate cardiac drips and handle high acuity casesMust provide an unexpired copy of driver’s license for consideration\n Benefits\n
