Job description

Electrician Position

The Electrician is responsible for executing tasks in a timely manner related to the electrical shop operations and overall facility maintenance. This role supports electrical work for remodels, capital improvements, and smaller projects. The Electrician plays a key role in enhancing the comfort and safety Ambassadors and contributes positively to the overall experience of building visitors.

Essential functions include :

  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all aspects of electrical power and lighting systems throughout the facility.
  • Ensures all electrical work complies with applicable building and electrical codes and standards. Follows safe work practices and properly uses required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Retrieves daily work assignments and accurately records relevant information in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS Maximo), including labor hours, materials used, equipment operated, PPE worn, and any necessary follow-up actions.
  • Interprets and applies information from wiring diagrams, electrical plans, specifications, technical documents, and schematic drawings for the installation and repair of electrical systems.
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate parts, materials, tools, and equipment to complete assignments, documenting usage in the final work order.
  • Installs data communication infrastructure, including ITD network lines, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, surge suppressors, and emergency power circuits.
  • Diagnoses and resolves electrical issues using a range of electronic testing equipment on both energized and de-energized systems.
  • Conducts routine preventive maintenance in accordance with the CMMS schedule, including the inspection and testing of emergency backup systems to ensure proper transfer functionality.
  • Operates company vehicles to transport materials, tools, and equipment, and to travel to remote visitor information centers as needed.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots the computerized lighting control system and its associated networked components.
  • Performs work at heights up to 70 feet using scissor lifts, boom lifts, ladders, and other aerial equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Upgrades and retrofits existing lighting systems with new LED technologies to improve energy efficiency and lighting performance.
  • Follows established safety protocols during all phases of work. Ensures job site safety by taking appropriate precautions, wearing designated PPE, and reporting any irregularities. Participates in weekly and monthly safety meetings.
  • Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned in support of facility operations.

Education and skills required include :

  • High school diploma or GED required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience as a professional electrician.
  • Completion of a state-approved 4- or 5-year electrical apprenticeship program is highly desired.
  • Current NEC Journeyman or Master or similar certification highly desired.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operating and configuring gateways, routers, repeaters, hubs, wireless access points, controllers, and control stations.
  • Working knowledge of network protocols including Ethernet, ARCnet, BACnet, and RS485 preferred.
  • Familiarity with wall station devices and DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) networks preferred.
  • Proficient in computerized lighting control systems such as Lithonia Synergy, Lutron Grafix 6000, or comparable systems preferred.
  • Experience with HTML-based web interfaces for lighting and system control preferred.
  • Capable of safely operating aerial lifts at heights exceeding 70 feet.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical theory, principles, and standard installation and repair techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical tools, materials, and industry-standard safe work practices.
  • Solid understanding of national and state electrical codes, safety standards, and electrical protection systems.
  • Skilled in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with peers, cross-functional teams, management, and external contractors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficient in relevant computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, CMMS (e.g., Maximo), and lighting control system software.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications / licenses / registrations :

  • Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license at the time of appointment and maintain it throughout the duration of employment.
  • Must obtain OSHA certification for operation of forklifts, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other department-specific equipment within 90 days of hire.
  • Customer service expectations :

    This position is expected to deliver the highest level of customer service to both internal and external customers through proactive and reactive assistance that consistently exceeds expectations.

    Safety expectations :

    At the LVCVA, safety is everyone's job. Executives and managers are expected to ensure safe work and a safe working environment through guidance and leadership for Ambassadors and contractors to include assessing and eliminating workplace hazards. Further expectations include ensuring compliance with and demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of established rules, policies, procedures, and regulations. Management is also expected to provide tools necessary for achieving safety to include time and budget.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Ambassador to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    The individual in this position must be able to work in a typical engineering environment, including office buildings, commercial facilities, and exterior grounds housing electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. This includes working in confined or cramped spaces such as electrical and mechanical equipment rooms. They must be capable of walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, balancing, and crawling, with sufficient manual dexterity. The individual should have the strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds using proper equipment. They must be able to distinguish colors, sizes, shapes, and temperatures, and safely work in high or precarious locations and in various climates. The ability to wear and work safely while using personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

    Additionally, the individual must be able to operate standard office equipment, including computers, and read and distinguish colors both on printed materials and computer screens. Good hearing and effective communication skills are essential, including in-person, telephone, and radio interactions. The individual must also be able to drive a vehicle to multiple work locations as needed.
