This position supports the philanthropic operations of a private family foundation focused on advancing youth opportunity, increasing housing access, and promoting opportunity across regions such as California, Texas, and New Mexico.

Overview

We are seeking a Philanthropic Associate to join our Philanthropy Team in Manhattan Beach, CA. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Philanthropic Associate will provide critical support across grantmaking, grantee relations, board engagement, and strategic initiatives for a dynamic and highly engaged family foundation. The role also collaborates closely with members of the Monograph family office client service and operations team to ensure integrated and seamless support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, intellectually curious, and thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. They bring strong writing and communication skills, emotional intelligence, and a deep commitment to supporting the community.

Skills and Experience

Required

• 2–4 years of professional experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, impact investing, or related fields.
• Excellent writing, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively.
• Comfort engaging with high-level stakeholders, including trustees and senior staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grants management systems.
• Understanding of private foundation grantmaking processes and regulatory context.

Salary and Benefits

Monograph considers the entire compensation offering when acknowledging team member contributions which includes a base salary and discretionary bonus. The current base salary range is $80,000 - $100,000 and is determined by team member responsibilities, experience, certifications, and other factors. The discretionary bonus is currently paid quarterly and determined by individual performance, firm performance, and market and other factors.

Additional benefits include health care benefits, paid time off, and 401(k) plan with employer match. Monograph also supports continuing education efforts (e.g., Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy certification, CFP designation, notary, educational courses).
