DEPARTMENT SUMMARY : The Center’s Development department is responsible for the fundraising to support the Center’s many programs and services that are not financially supported by government grants. The department raises nearly $20 million through individual gifts, private foundation grants, and estate and legacy gifts, as well as several fundraising events which include major events, such as the Center Gala.
JOB SUMMARY : The Donor Engagement Associate will have primary responsibility for the Center Advocates giving program—identifying, cultivating, soliciting / upgrading, and stewarding monthly donors. Additionally, this position will develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship program for the Center’s cultural arts initiatives and relaunch the young professional’s donor group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and retention of Center Advocates donors, ensuring timely follow-up and personalized engagement for a tiered portfolio of donors
- Build a scalable stewardship system that automates outreach for the majority of Center Advocates while maintaining high-touch engagement for top-tier donors
- Develop and execute strategies to increase the number of Center Advocates donors and inspire annual increases in giving levels
- Represent the Center at donor-related events and serve as a passionate advocate for the organization’s mission
Program Development
Design and launch a comprehensive donor stewardship program for the Center’s cultural arts initiatives, creating meaningful opportunities for donor engagement and recognitionRelaunch the young professional’s donor group, developing programming, events, and communications to attract and retain emerging philanthropistsSupport all other donor cultivation and solicitation events such as house receptions, site tours, Cultural Arts performances, volunteer activations, community events, and the annual GalaCollaborate with the Development team to identify and engage prospects for Center Advocates and other giving levelsCampaign & Marketing Support
Support the Director of Donor Stewardship and Communications in building and executing direct mail and email fundraising campaignsWork with the Marketing & Communications team and Director of Donor Engagement and Communications on creating marketing content and materials for fundraising efforts related to Center Advocates, Cultural Arts, and young professionals’ group.Build fundraising emails in donor software for campaigns and other email fundraising opportunities as assignedData Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM system, tracking interactions, gifts, and stewardship activitiesAnalyze donor data to identify trends, evaluate the effectiveness of stewardship efforts, and inform future strategiesManage analytical and statistical reports pertaining to membership, acquisition revenue and expenses, tracking the progress and cost-effectiveness of fundraising appealsPrepare regular reports on progress toward fundraising goals and key performance indicatorsQUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of relevance to LGBTQ individualsA passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ peopleThree years’ experience in development or donor relations, or relevant experience in marketing, sales, etc.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of attention to detailProven ability to work in a collaborative team environmentDemonstrated ability to balance personal outreach and relationship building with innovative, data-driven approaches to donor engagementCreativity, strategic thinking, and a passion for advancing the mission of the Los Angeles LGBT CenterAvailable to work evenings and weekends as neededProficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Salesforce (or other CRM), email marketing, and social media platformsAbility to lift up to 20 lbs.Access to reliable transportationDemonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environmentThe hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $69,000 - $76,500 annually. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s experience. The full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, dependent on the position offered.
