Financial Technician, Senior
The Industrial Commission's Fiscal team is seeking a Financial Technician, Senior, to perform a variety of paraprofessional duties that are essential in supporting the Commission in carrying out its mission. Duties performed by this position include developing, maintaining, and reviewing financial records and documents, performing entry level accounting, bookkeeping, and reconciliation or auditing functions, and interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, rules and policies related to financial transactions.
Example of duties : review and approve requests for payment from the Crime Victims Compensation Program, determine appropriate coding, and process payments; receive incoming payments and allocate appropriately in both the Industrial Commission's internal software system (IRIS) and the State's Luma system; maintain digital records, including filing of digital records and maintaining shared spreadsheets; assist the Financial Specialists in simple reconciliations and data entry; assist in filing records in both digital and hard copy format; assist in a backup capacity for the Fiscal Department, including performing accounts payables transactions.
Minimum qualifications : some knowledge of accounting principles and practices; good knowledge of financial record keeping methods; experience using personal computers to enter, retrieve and edit financial data; experience researching and compiling financial information.
Desirable qualifications : experience working in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word; communicating both orally and in writing in a professional capacity; reconciling data and information; applying cost coding and interpreting financial data; interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and policies; working both independently and in a team setting.
