Job Purpose
The Collections Clerk is responsible for assisting in the generating and mailing of letters, itemized bills and other patient correspondence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Scan correspondence and documents into the Company's Artiva system
- Complete pending tasks report daily
- Track, update, print, and mail correspondence
- Analyze patient accounts flagged for disputes
- Verify billing accuracy, insurance payments and patient responsibility
- Identify discrepancies and determine the root cause of disputes
- Identify accounts with legal representation and initiate contact with attorneys' offices to verify representation and obtain necessary documentation
- Maintain accurate records of attorney communications and legal documents related to patient accounts
- Coordinate with attorneys regarding payment arrangements, account status, and dispute resolution.
- Draft and manage responses to patient / attorney liens / disputes
- Comply with FDCPA guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
- Use, protect and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Understand and comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
- Limit viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum as necessary to perform assigned duties

High school diploma or equivalent required1 year experience working as a clerk or similar roleAbility to learn in-house applicationsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteStrong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organizationStrong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysesHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientedExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredGracious and welcoming personality for customer service interactionWorking Conditions
