GSK remains committed to achieving bold commercial ambitions for the future. By 2031, we aim to deliver 40 billion in annual sales, leveraging our existing strong performance momentum to significantly increase our positive impact on the health of billions of patients globally. Our Ahead Together strategy is centred on early intervention to prevent and alter the course of disease, thereby protecting people and supporting healthcare systems.

Our diverse portfolio consists of vaccines, specialty medicines, and general medicines. Through continuous innovation and a dedicated focus on scientific and technical excellence, we strive to develop and launch new, groundbreaking treatments that address critical health challenges.

At GSK, we are committed to tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as part of our mission to get ahead of disease together. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the global policy environment, forge partnerships, and champion the systemic change needed to ensure that future generations continue to benefit from life‑saving antimicrobials.

Role Purpose

The Director, Policy and Advocacy - AMR & Sustainable Innovation will lead development and implementation of GSK's global policy and advocacy strategy to advance sustainable models that enable continued R&D investment in and value recognition for a range of biopharma innovations relevant for tackling AMR as well as supporting equitable access for patients worldwide.

This role will shape the external policy environment to ensure that innovative antimicrobials and AMR‑relevant vaccines can be discovered, developed, and delivered sustainably – aligning with GSK's commitment to responsible business, global health security, and company growth. This role offers career growth, the chance to influence global health policy, and to contribute directly to GSK's mission of uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and delivery of GSK's global AMR and sustainable innovation policy and advocacy strategy, prioritising financial incentives and models and economic frameworks that support antimicrobial and vaccine R&D as well as access and stewardship globally.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with government ministries, regulators, industry associations, WHO and other multilateral forums, and key NGOs and academic partners.
  • Design and deliver targeted advocacy campaigns, policy briefs, and consultation responses that shape policy and funding decisions.
  • Develop clear, concise advice and briefing materials for senior leaders and cross‑functional teams to inform strategic decisions and support external policy‑based engagements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including R&D, global commercial and market access and other Communications and Government Affairs teams to align policy positions and deliver on objectives.
  • Monitor global policy trends, perform horizon scanning and prepare risk / opportunity assessments to advise Senior Leaders and inform proactive engagement.

Key Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in public health, health policy, international relations, health economics or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in public policy, government affairs, global health or advocacy within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics or public health sectors, with demonstrated work on infectious diseases or AMR.
  • Some experience within a commercial organisation is a must.
  • Strategic thinker with the capacity to translate insights into actionable advice for the business.
  • Policy analysis experience including consultation response drafting and regulatory policy input to support sustainable financing models for R&D and access and stewardship of innovations.
  • Proven track record of influencing global policy environments and building partnerships with international organisations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including experience producing policy briefs and managing C‑suite level stakeholders.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a matrix organisation.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience engaging with WHO, G20, regional health bodies or major donor agencies.
  • Technical understanding of antimicrobial stewardship, diagnostics, surveillance, or new therapeutic development.
  • Track record of coalition building and managing consortium‑style partnerships.
  • Familiarity with health economics or market‑shaping approaches to improve access.
  • Closing Date for Applications : 1 December 2025 (EOD)
