Services for Students with Children brings together student and professional staff to support student parents and caregivers on and off campus.

The Assistant Director (AD) provides coordination and leadership to Services for Students with Children with organizational stewardship of The Resource Center for Students with Children, the Jim Sells Childcare Subsidy, Baby Vikings, and Little Vikings, as it relates to program assessment, event planning, and outreach communication.
This position oversees the strategy to maintain and enhance an environment in which students with children see themselves reflected, embraced, and valued.
The Assistant Director supports student retention by connecting students to campus services and resources and collaborates with student services, student groups, on-campus departments, and community organizations to advance the mission of Services for Students with Children.
The Assistant Director is a key member of the department’s leadership team. In collaboration with the director, staff, and stakeholders, the AD works to design strategies to address systemic issues facing students with children and build departmental culture and norms.
This position operates with minimal supervision and requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptivity as tasks are often complex, varied and unpredictable.
The position reports to the Director of Services for Students with Children and may serve as acting director when the director is unavailable.
This is a full-time, AAUP represented position. Successful completion of a background check is required. Occasional after-hours and weekend hours are required.
In accordance with the AAUP collective bargaining agreement this position is open only to current PSU AAUP academic professionals.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years of related professional experience.

Work Days / Hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Schedule will change occasionally for required after-hours and weekend duties.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band.
PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be between $54,684 and $61,152 but may be negotiated above this range, dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
