Responsibilities include providing a range of mental health services such as short-term, inpatient care for veterans with severe or life-threatening mental illness, outpatient care for veterans with serious mental illness, regular outpatient care, rehabilitation treatment and residential programs for veterans with mental health problems and other needs, primary care for many common mental and behavioral problems, and supported work settings to help veterans join the workforce and live well in the community. We also provide care to veterans in crisis, including emergency mental health care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and support through the Veterans Crisis Line.

Work schedules include full-time on nights / 3rd shift with federal holiday and weekend rotation required or part-time / .7 / 56 hours every pay period on PMs / 2nd shift with federal holiday and weekend rotation required.

Conditions of employment include being a U.S. citizen, proficiency in written and spoken English, and participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program. You may be required to serve a trial period, subject to background / security investigation, and complete an online onboarding process. Acceptable forms of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements.

Qualifications include basic requirements such as United States citizenship, English language proficiency, and education or training. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, you must meet the following grade requirements : GS-3 level with none beyond the basic requirements, GS-4 level with one year of specialized experience or education, and GS-5 level with one year of progressively responsible assignments and experience equivalent to the GS-4 level or a bachelor's degree.

Physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, and lifting in the direct care of patients; some extended periods of sitting and / or standing.
