Your Responsibilities
Leading Freight Forwarder / NVOCC / Customs House Broker / Tank Container Operator, with locations in 24 countries and over 3300 employees, is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Import Customer Service Representative – Customs Entry Writer in our Jersey City, NJ office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Receiving, reviewing, and processing import documentation for assigned accounts.
- Preparing daily activities such as delivery orders, coordinating cargo pickup and delivery, filing ISF (Importer Security Filing), and responding to emails.
- Processing documents through systems and interfaces, providing updates and communication to internal and external customers to ensure timely and compliant transactions.
- Coordinating the release of goods from carriers, Customs, or partnering government agencies, including examinations if required.
- Tracing transaction information such as HBL, commercial invoices, and other documents to verify record availability.
- Learning and applying U.S. government regulations (e.g., ISF, customs entry, partnering government agencies, quota, anti-dumping / countervailing).
- Coordinating shipments with consignees and brokers.
- Corresponding with overseas agents and clients.
- Working with steamship lines, airlines, and trucking companies to obtain quotations and handle freight movements.
- Developing and maintaining excellent customer service relationships.
- Managing files from start to finish.
- Ensuring legal compliance and providing import guidance within government rules and regulations.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and complete transactions.
- Transmitting Customs Entries to US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) for import shipments.
Your Profile
2-4 years of experience in import customs clearance operations.Knowledge of current and historical customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and related government directives (EPA, FDA, USDA) is a plus.Ability to work independently, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.Experience handling hazardous materials is a plus.We Offer
