As an Equipment Operator with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, you will be integral to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our roadways, particularly during the demanding winter season when snow removal is crucial. Your responsibilities will not only include snow plowing but also extend to various construction projects, where your expertise significantly influences the infrastructure and safety of the traveling public. Beyond operating heavy machinery, you will also be responsible for performing minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance on your equipment and trucks. Full-time employment. Work hours vary from 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 00 PM; Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours may vary and overtime may be required during weather events. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements : Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements : This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed. This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders, and two additional pieces of construction equipment, within the probationary period. Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment. Certain positions require the operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
