Title : Commercial Lines
Purpose : To carry out the mission of the organization at all times.
Reports To : Agency Owner
Job Summary :
The Commercial Lines Account Manager performs the essential functions of the position, which includes aiding clients with service needs and making changes to existing accounts. Specific service and marketing responsibilities are required in this position. The role meets service and sales delivery standards and performs essential functions according to the quality and service standards developed by our client . General office administrative duties are also involved.
Systems Requirements :
Be fluent and skilled in the AMS Vertafore System
Leverage advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM platforms, to optimize client and office operations
Primary Responsibilities : New Business
Pre-qualify new business prospects according to agency standards
Assist clients with making coverage changes in an automated environment supported by transactional filing; determine if delayed or advanced billing is appropriate and invoice accordingly
Use each client contact as an opportunity to review the entire account, round it, and market appropriately
Inform and educate clients about policy coverage, changes, exclusions, and insurance coverage needs
Provide technical support to producer(s) to benefit clients and help reach our client's strategic business goals
Prepare proposals and complete applications in coordination with producer(s); submit applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; obtain client signatures on all applications; and follow up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies
Produce binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and other related items for clients; verify their accuracy
Actively seek referrals from current clients and follow up to generate new business using the prospect database and automated marketing tools
Retention / Marketing
Prepare summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals as needed for account review
Remarkets renewals, contacts clients, creates renewal proposals, and handles renewal activities in coordination with producer(s)
Renew policies following our client's standards, verify each renewal's accuracy, and ensure that all renewals are produced
Review audits of policies; verify accuracy and facilitate corrections as needed between client and carrier
Maintain and update electronic and transactional files
Verify policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary
Process incoming mail requests, responding promptly and appropriately
Verify accuracy of all direct-billed cancellations and take appropriate corrective action when needed
Use our client's credit and collection policy in invoicing and pursuing prompt payments; request cancellations from the carrier according to standards
Determine reasons for cancellation requests, act to retain accounts, and notify producer(s) as per our client's standards
Process and follow up on cancellation requests to carriers to ensure accurate and timely resolution
Review walk-in payments and verify acceptability; process appropriately and provide receipts to payers
Assist clients in submitting first reports of claims, obtaining adjusters or visits from agency staff; facilitate prompt response from carrier staff and follow up on claims status to keep insureds informed and work toward claim settlement
Use each claim contact as an occasion to review coverages and market as needed
Actively solicit increases in coverage and round out accounts through sales to clients; maintain proper documentation of all contacts
Refer current and prospective clients to the Life / Benefits Department and to Personal Lines for cross-selling opportunities; assist in profiling the commercial book of business for marketing purposes
Assist in designing or independently design insurance plans for clients as assigned and directed by agency management
Assist or complete other tasks as directed by agency management
Personal and Organizational Development
Set priorities and manage workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities
Maintain cordial and effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts
Stay informed regarding industry updates, new product information, legislation, coverages, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance
Interact effectively with others using strong communication skills, cooperation, and professionalism to achieve our client's business goals
Maintain up-to-date technical manuals and understand how to perform technical tasks to expedite client service
Daily Activities
Run daily download reports from AMS360 and update AMS360
Invoice and process direct-billed policies from download repayment
Maintain monthly renewal lists
Issue binders / certificates as needed
Perform basic office duties, including mail processing, answering telephones, and filing
Quote and / or re-quote renewals
Working Conditions
Days and Hours of Operation :
Small but cordial office environment requiring a self-motivated individual with a desire to work and achieve our client's goals
Our client will supply the necessary tools to perform the required responsibilities; suggestions to improve performance are encouraged
The office is normally open Monday through Friday from 8 : 15 a.m. to 4 : 45 p.m. with lunch from Noon to 1 : 00 p.m. The Agency Manual provides more details
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
College education or equivalent insurance experience
Strong oral and written communication skills to explain complex issues and respond appropriately
Ability to interpret and understand complex written and oral communication
Property and Casualty License required; Life and Health License may also be required
Full knowledge of insurance products, rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations
Adequate knowledge of insurance markets and underwriting procedures
Ability to perform complex tasks with both concrete and abstract variables
Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and ability to perform calculations involving decimals and fractions
Proficiency in computer programs and understanding of their functionality
