Description:
The Traffic Officer is responsible for performing tasks related to ensuring the safety of staff, clients, and citizens. The Traffic Officer will work cohesively with other officers and certified flaggers to maintain safe traffic control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors traffic at assigned intersection.
  • Ensures safe passage of all pedestrians and traffic.
  • Monitors flaggers and ensures safe positioning to properly flag traffic.
  • Observe all non-motorists to ensure they safely cross roadways.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Requires standing & walking for prolonged periods of time
  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Requires using hands to handle, control or lift objects
  • Requires being outside and exposed to environmental conditions
  • Requires being in traffic and construction environment
  • Requires repetitive movement
  • Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and moving vehicular traffic
  • Exposure to reasonable noise levels
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
  • Must wear high visibility vests; carry a firearm; handcuffs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Must have experience as a police officer, temporary police officer, reserve police officer, or auxiliary police officer (means any person employed by any municipality or any political subdivision of the state of Tennessee) or have a Retired Commission Card.
  • Maintain a valid driver license.
  • Obtain, hold, and maintain a valid guard card/license, as required in the state for which you are applying.
