Job Title : Procurement Specialist I
Location : 555 Industrial Drive S., Madison, MS 39110
Duration : 9 Months (Contract)
Pay Rate : $25–$27 / hour
About the Role :
Our aerospace client is seeking a Procurement Specialist I to join their Supply Chain Department in Madison, Mississippi. The selected candidate will handle a variety of procurement activities, including sourcing, supplier negotiations, managing RFQs, processing purchase orders, and tracking supplier performance. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials within a fast-paced aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
Source, negotiate, and purchase machinery, tools, packaging materials, parts, services, and supplies essential for aerospace operations.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and Requests for Proposal (RFP); analyze supplier bids and proposals.
Create purchase orders (under $30K) and track supplier acknowledgements, delivery schedules, and past-due orders in SAP.
Assist senior buyers with the creation and maintenance of nine-tab procurement folders.
Perform supplier invoice troubleshooting to resolve payment issues.
Support supplier visits and assist in developing agendas for program review meetings.
Compile and analyze data to assess procurement feasibility and set price objectives.
Monitor supplier performance, market trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards.
Participate in other procurement-related projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree with 0 years of related experience OR
Associate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of related purchasing / subcontracting experience OR
High School Diploma with 8 years of directly related experience in government, industrial, or aerospace procurement.
Skills & Requirements :
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary data and sensitive information.
Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain a DoD security clearance if required.
Willingness to work weekends, other shifts, and overtime as needed.
Occasional travel may be required.
