Job Summary :
The Procurement Specialist I supports the Supply Chain Department by managing purchasing activities and vendor relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement of materials and services. This position plays an essential role in sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining supplier performance, while adhering to company and government compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Source, negotiate, and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, packaging materials, parts, and services required for operational success.
Compile and analyze statistical data to evaluate supplier performance and determine cost-effective purchasing opportunities.
Monitor and assess supplier delivery status, acknowledgments, and compliance.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) , Requests for Proposal (RFPs) , and bid packages.
Assist senior buyers in developing 9-tab procurement folders and ensure SAP data accuracy for tracking and updates.
Track and resolve past-due purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries.
Collaborate with finance and suppliers to troubleshoot invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payment resolution.
Participate in supplier visits and program reviews, assisting with agenda preparation and documentation.
Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards while adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Required Experience :
Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of purchasing experience , OR
Associate degree and 4 years of purchasing or subcontracting experience , OR
High school diploma and 8 years of government, industrial, or aerospace procurement experience .
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite , particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong communication skills for effective engagement with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary data and sensitive information.
Preferred Experience :
Background in aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments .
Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
Experience supporting procurement audits and documentation reviews.
Required Skills :
Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
Attention to detail and data accuracy.
Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining compliance.
Preferred Skills :
Excellent problem-solving and vendor management capabilities.
Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR / DFAR) and supply chain compliance standards.
Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier site visits.
Additional Requirements :
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (if required).
Must pass a background investigation and adhere to all company policies.
Availability to work overtime or weekends as needed.
