Construction Interior Designer
Description
The Construction Interior Designer is responsible for creating AutoCAD / REVIT design documents for the Companys retail stores and galleries based on the Companys design standards and client needs.
This position will intuitively adapt space planning solutions to strategically create construction documents to best utilize building square footage with quick turnaround of low to medium priority projects.
The Construction Interior Designer is accountable for ensuring that building plans and related documents are completed accurately, efficiently and within deadline.
This position will identify and create retail spaces aligned with the Companys business objectives that aid in the achievement of sales volume and profitability.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in interior design or closely related field or equivalent work experience
- 2 years in an Interior Design related field
- Strong knowledge of interior design concepts and industry practices, including color theory, space, lighting, and floor planning
- Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of design-related algebra and geometry, with ability to interpret 2D and 3D blueprints and other renderings
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work independently as well as in a team environment
Primary Job Functions
- Create construction plans for small to medium size stores based on moderate retail environment complexities of non-standard building conditions
- Cultivate strong working relationships with clients to coach and develop custom building plans as defined by client and international building guidelines and practices.
Develop collaborative relationships with owners, coworkers, merchandising designers business development executives, marketing specialists, and licensee field operators to ensure store and gallery design needs are met.
- Develop design documents, presentations and cost estimates for assigned projects that meet the Companys brand and construction principles
- Develop, create and distribute purchase orders for building materials, store fixtures and required signage for new and existing stores and galleries
- Attend and present at corporate and client design meetings when needed
- Provide in-store training for the Companys retail locations and their staff as may be required for design support
- Regular meetings with the design team to review objectives, deadlines, mitigate issues that arise, etc
- Manage special projects within department which includes conducting research, creating plans and supporting documentation, collaborating with other departments, interfacing with outside vendors and become a category reference expert for other team members
