Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary : Advanced Practice Provider

A Physician Assistant provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for patients in collaboration with or under the clinical supervision of a physician.

He or she will be responsible for the patient evaluation, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, and prescribing of appropriate medical and therapeutic measures.

The majority of this job's workday is spent within an outpatient clinic setting.

Requirements and / or Preferences :

Education : Advanced Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nurse Practitioner

We are looking for an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Urogynecology team. This position will include duties of outpatient clinical services in pulmonary medicine, alternating with inpatient pulmonary and ICU consultations on an alternating basis.

Gradual development of independent run clinic. This is a strictly consultative service at a high-tech hospital. No night call.

  • Evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute and chronic illness and disease. Focus will be on pulmonary and critical care medicine.
  • Obtains medical histories, conducts physical examinations and assesses and determines differential diagnosis. Prescribes medication, therapy and treatments accordingly.
  • Performs routine procedures.
  • Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine. Will be trained and determined competent by a physician.
  • Knows clinical limits and consults with physician as appropriate.
  • Adjusts patient care plan by reviewing and monitoring treatments and therapy plans.
  • Counsels, instructs and educates patients on physical and mental health including : diet, preventive health measures, health behaviors, self-care skills, disease, treatment options, and normal growth and development.
  • Prepares, dictates and signs patient care plans and summaries of patient care. Maintains timely medical records according to established standards and guidelines.
  • Adapts care and education appropriately to the age of the patients served.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nurse Practictioner
  • Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a health care team. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish / build relationships with others. Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
