Bus Drivers

Charlotte Latin School seeks reliable and responsible School Bus Drivers to join our team and ensure safe, punctual transportation for our students. This role is essential in supporting our Field Trips, Academic and Athletic competitions, and Performing Arts events. School Bus Drivers will work approximately 20 hours per week, schedules may include weekday, evening, and weekend routes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate Charlotte Latin School's buses along designated routes and schedules for various school events, including academic trips, sports competitions, and performances.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students onboard, adhering to school and transportation safety policies.
• Keep the bus clean, orderly, and in good working condition. Report any maintenance needs promptly to ensure safety and reliability.
• Be available for a variable work schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• A minimum of three years of experience driving a bus is preferred.
• Previous experience in a school setting is preferred.
• A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record is required for operating a school bus.
• Up-to-date CDL medical certification filed with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Skills:

• Driving Skills: Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all driving regulations.
• Instructional Skills: Capable of understanding and following instructions, as well as giving clear safety instructions to students.
• Focus & Safety: Strong ability to stay focused on the road and prioritize student safety at all times.
• Care & Communication: Genuine care for students in grades TK-12, with the ability to interact respectfully and positively with children of diverse backgrounds.
• Professionalism: Adheres to the highest standards of professionalism, including punctuality, reliability, and respectfulness.
• Flexibility: Comfortable with a variable schedule, including some evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.

Working Conditions and Environment:

• Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
• Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
• Frequently talk and hear.
• Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
• Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures.
• Long or odd hours, as needed.
