Game Designer - Content Scripter (Project Hire) – Los Angeles or Remote

We are seeking a Game Designer to join the Content Scripting team with a passion for crafting story events using cinematics, scripted moments, visual language, pacing, and dialogue. This person should interpret vision and collaborate with a larger team to execute at the highest quality, aesthetically and technically.
As part of a multi-functional team, this role bridges disciplines by working with directors and discipline leads to ensure a consistent, cohesive player experience. The candidate is a seasoned generalist who understands what it takes to craft narrative content at the highest levels of quality.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Unreal Engine assets and manage complex interactions between systems to deliver an engaging and fluid player experience.
- Collaborate with animation, engineering, art, and others to craft narrative moments, systems, and experiences that express world-class storytelling.
- Communicate and consult across disciplines as a member of a connective tissue team; this role bridges multiple content categories.
- Work with production and leads to plan and prioritize work on micro and macro scales, actively participating in prioritization, scoping, and creative discussions.
- Drive iteration between disciplines with a focus on technical and aesthetic quality, feasibility, and player experience.
Requirements & Skills
Broad experience with Unreal Engine and scripting best practices, ideally including sequencer, montages, blueprints, and event scripting. Animation systems experience is a significant plus.Passion for narrative presentation and the player experience; familiarity with bringing content from concept to final.Comfortable working within and driving the development of systems used to express story, character performance, and player engagement.Knowledge of narrative presentation techniques including cinematic language, timing, staging, performance, and agency.Strong technical problem-solving and interpersonal skills.A passion for making games with the enthusiasm and skill to polish to a high level of quality.Qualities
Excellent communicator, capable of translating cross-disciplinary complexity with accuracy and clarity.Approachable and enthusiastic about narrative and the technical underpinnings that bring a story to life.Deep appreciation for game development crafts and a drive to express them at the highest level of quality.Engages with feedback at every level and understands the overlap between design and other disciplines.Comfortable balancing priorities in a highly iterative environment.Uses lateral thinking to solve problems and leverage resources effectively.Note : This is a temporary "Project Hire" position.
