Purpose
To provide technical and drafting skills in performing manual or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) work. Responsible for compiling and organizing engineering and drafting data into usable form for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
Responsibilities
Time management, organization, and prioritization for timely completion of project tasks.
Work with other staff to achieve project goals and consistency of project documentation.
Specification of detailed technical assembly procedure documentation for mechanical and electrical components.
Assist designers and engineers with form-fit-function analysis. Knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
Detailed modeling of mechanical and electrical components and assemblies. Creation and maintenance of library parts for use in assemblies and deliverable documentation.
Drafting of project documentation, drawing packages, and engineer design documentation.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
HS/GED
Three years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated knowledge in drafting and development of mechanical and electrical components using Solidworks computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
Demonstrated capability using and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
Attention to detail.
Ability to produce clear, accurate, and easily interpretable documentation, and to quickly and correctly implement corrections to existing documents.
Critical thinking skills to produce clear and unambiguous documentation that conforms to ASME Y14.5 standards.
Ability to work several overlapping projects with various engineering teams.
Ability to work within an environment of rapidly changing priorities. Able to work under pressure, accept constructive criticism, and rapidly implement revisions with and without supervision.
Work with other staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Regular and punctual attendance.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor, and work independently and as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Engineering and Computer Aided Design – Mechanical Specialization with 1 year related experience.
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
Experience in mechanical design, specification, fabrication and testing of mechanical assemblies, cable harness assemblies, and electronic printed circuit card assemblies.
Knowledge of manual milling, CNC milling and programming, general power tools, and the ability to inspect parts with calipers and micrometers.
Experience writing technical instructions.
Experience interfacing with vendors and machine shops to procure items.
US Citizen: Subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Salary Range
$44,000-$50,000+/negotiable, depending on qualifications
