Social Media Manager

La Sierra University is seeking an expert Social Media Manager to lead and grow our social media content and following. This role requires an expert that can develop and execute content strategies, produce content at a very fast pace, build strong relationships with students, influencers, and the local community. The Social Media Manager will play a central role in shaping how the university is represented across digital platforms, while leading a team of student content creators and interns.

Responsibilities

• Must be an expert with the Instagram, TikTok and YouTube platforms and know all features for posting, editing, reporting and communicating.

• Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the university’s mission and brand identity.

• Film, edit, and publish content daily for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube along with other platforms like LinkedIn, and Facebook.

• Edit short-form video content quickly and effectively using CapCut, Premiere or iMovie. Should have experience using the latest tools or AI to create or edit video content.

• Manage daily posting schedules, engagement, and community interaction.

• Build and maintain collaborations with students, influencers, celebrities and local businesses to grow our reach and amplify our reach and engagement.

• Be comfortable appearing on camera and guiding others in fast paced content creation.

• Collaborate with campus departments to support campaigns, events, and announcements for multiple departments.

• Manage and mentor student workers, assistants, and interns to maintain a consistent and high-quality content pipeline.

• Provide live coverage at major campus events, including some evenings and weekends. Set up weekly livestreams with enrollment and department heads to highlight our college to prospective students.

• Track performance metrics and provide data-driven recommendations for growth and engagement.

• Stay current with social media trends, algorithm changes, and platform best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field. Masters degree preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional social media management experience.

• Proven ability to grow social media accounts over time with limited budgets.

• Ability to shoot, edit and publish short-form content on a daily basis.

• Advanced knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts along with expert understanding of hashtags, trends, thumbnails, editing zones and royalty free content.

• Strong understanding of storytelling, visual branding, and community engagement.

• Experience managing student workers, assistants, or interns.

• Demonstrated success in building partnerships or collaborations with influencers or local businesses.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Proficiency with CapCut and other relevant video creation and editing tools.

• Must own or be comfortable using an iPhone Pro for daily content production.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in higher education, community engagement, or brand marketing.

• Familiarity with SEO, analytics, and paid social campaigns.

• Experience with ambassador or influencer programs.

• Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Supervisory Duties:

Direct supervision over all student workers working in social media and editing.

Location:

La Sierra University campus, in-person full-time. Occasional weekend event coverage. No virtual or work from home options.
