This position will be responsible for handling or overseeing all functions related to the month-end close process and the Land Development lending process. This position will also assist the Accounting Team with reporting requirements, AP, and Treasury responsibilities.
Job Functions :
- Month-end Close Process
- Combined entities
- Work with Staff Accountant to complete monthly journal entries
- Review Financial Statements and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Prepare Profitability and OH reporting
- Assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation of lender reporting and compliance requirements
- Non-combined entities
- Complete monthly close process for non-combined entities
- Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Analyze variances, research questions from Accounting Manager and CFO
- Cash Management / Treasury
- Manage daily cash balances
- Transfer cash between appropriate accounts
- Set up ACH / wires as needed
- Ensure proper funding for monthly payments
- Land Development Draws
- Analyze appropriate job detail
- Prepare monthly draws to submit to equity partners and lenders
- Communicate with lenders and other involved parties about the status of loan draws
- Confirm draw funding and process related payments
- HOA
- Process wires for HOA cash funding
- Annual financial audit
- Prepare PBCs for audit team
- Assist auditors with questions or follow up
- IT / Systems
- Set up new projects, entities
- Set up new GL accounts / maintenance of GL interface
- BANK / EFT / EFTM SETUP
- Prepare and file Personal Property Tax Returns
- Prepare and file Business License Renewals
- Work with Staff Accountant and Senior AP Specialist to complete 1099 (annual) tax reporting
- Cross-training with other team members to provide backup in the event of a team member's absence
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in finance or accounting, ideally in the home-building or real estate industry.
- Must have a strong understanding of financial controls and the proven ability to navigate and apply functional accounting practices.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage multiple competing priorities timely.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications, especially in Excel.
- Highly adaptable to fast paced working environment and can operate with a sense of urgency.
- Must be able to work effectively in high pressure situations, the ability to embrace with enthusiasm changing priorities, procedures, and responsibilities.
- Must be customer focused with strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working as a member of a team.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug screen.
