Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for overall site production operations. This position creates a work environment that promotes safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness. The role requires developing and leading teams that can achieve continuous improvement objectives. The Operations Manager is accountable for all aspects of plant performance while ensuring objectives are met in a cost-effective manner and driving process improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities required to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost meet specified targets.
- Ensure compliance with behavior-based safety initiatives and drive continuous safety improvement.
- Execute quality control plans to maintain compliance with standards and reduce process variation.
- Monitor on-time delivery performance and implement corrective actions to improve results.
- Manage labor, overtime, and expenditures to maintain cost efficiency.
- Determine staffing requirements weekly and reallocate resources as needed based on priorities and scheduling changes.
- Review and analyze production reports to identify root causes of budget variances and implement corrective actions using structured root cause analysis and Lean methodologies.
- Apply Lean principles to form teams that improve productivity, reduce waste, and achieve quality goals.
- Recommend and lead cost reduction initiatives, including capital improvements with favorable ROI.
- Promote, plan, and participate in continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities and sustain achieved results.
- Lead daily operational reviews to ensure effective utilization of production and performance tracking tools.
- Partner with Human Resources to maintain appropriate staffing levels and compliance with policies and safety standards.
- Coach and mentor team members to support their development and performance.
- Stay informed on emerging trends, methods, and technologies that enhance manufacturing efficiency and resource utilization.
- Research and recommend capital equipment investments.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Hands-on leader with integrity, strong business acumen, and the ability to drive change and continuous improvement.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or equivalent experience (minimum 10 years of staff-level leadership).Minimum of 7 years of experience in Operations or Lean Management.Experience implementing Lean principles within manufacturing environments.Proven ability to apply structured problem-solving to identify root causes and implement effective countermeasures.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Industry experience in manufacturing or printing preferred.Willingness to relocate to Winona, MN (relocation assistance provided).Compensation & Benefits
