Summary :
Responsible for performing all the duties of aphlebotomist including specimen collection, specimen receiving, andspecimen referrals.
Responsibilities :
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUSCompetencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader ofLeaders.
- Ensures that the company philosophy and corevalues are evident in the service delivered to customers.
- Takes responsibility for seeking and achieving professionalgrowth and continued education.
- Assures quality ofwork performed by all associates. Coordinates services to customersin a manner that provides customer satisfaction and cost-efficientoperations.
- Assures compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA,infection control, safety, and other regulatory standards,including privacy and security of health information (PHI).
- Maintains collection tray / container / bag and working area ina neat and sanitary condition & restocks as necessary.
- Responsible for procurement of supplies for the departmentin cooperation with the team lead.
- Performs allduties of a phlebotomist; specimen collection, specimen receiving,specimen send-outs.
- Prepares specimens for referralto outside labs, including ordering of misc. and misc. referredtesting, packaging of specimens, calling of cab, referralpaperwork, and the mail system
- Performs all patientspecimen collections including, but not limited to, venipuncture,capillary collection, urine drug screen collection, skin tests, andblood, throat, and NP cultures.
- Ensures that specimenrequirements are met at the time of collection and maintainspecimen integrity
- Demonstrates good communicationskills by competently interacting with customers, patients, familymembers, nurses, physicians, clients, and co-workers.
- Operates the laboratory computer system to document specimeninformation, patient registration, order entry, collection lists,and other assigned tasks.
- Performs other relatedduties as assigned (stand-by / on-call, inventory, special projects,cross-training, etc.).
- Completes associateperformance evaluations and annual competency assessments in atimely manner.
Requirements :
- High School diploma or equivalent. Diploma orTranscript required at time ofhire.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy; MedicalLaboratory; or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomypreferred
- Familiar with medicalterminology; computer data entry; organizationalskills
- One year phlebotomy experiencepreferred
- Certification from NationalAccredited Program Preferred
