Human Resource Coordinator at Highly Marelli located in Shelbyville, TN
GENERAL SUMMARY
Design and modify parts and assemblies in 3D CAD. This is accomplished by performing design investigations, analyses, feasibility studies while working jointly with the Engineering staff to resolve any design issues. Position must make decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified product materials and production processes.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Designs and modifies 3D parts and assemblies based on studies to determine the design requirements / details while working jointly with the Engineering staff. This includes both verbal and written communications.
- Work is performed at the team member's own discretion using independent judgment in creation / modification of the design. For example – determine where the part or assembly resides in the vehicle coordinate system, assessment and confirmation of performance and cost requirements relative to the design, consider the design's impact to manufacturability and tooling, assessment of gap and clearance issues, and recommendations relative to quality enhancements and cost reduction.
- The team member must use engineering theory and math skills as well in determining the necessary design components.
- Designers must analyze the customer's performance, quality, and cost requirements. As the design is developed, designers must determine if the part or assembly design meets the customer's criteria. After testing of the design (digitally and physically), designers must analyze and determine if their designs satisfy customer requirements. If issues / concerns are determined, the Designer must recommend and implement design changes to resolve product problems.
- Performs interference / clearance checks in 3D.
- If there is an interference condition in assembly, position will redesign the part(s) to eliminate the interference.
- Position is responsible for redesigning mounting or connection features if there is an issue with parts not mating properly.
- Performs export of data (pkg, STEP, IGES, etc…)
- Performs tolerance stack-ups based on tolerance input from Engineer.
- Reviews other designers work and provide training as needed.
- Performs data management of CAD items.
- Must follow all company requirements in regards to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This work is performed in a general office environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Have a high school diploma or GED.Have one to two years of vocational technical training or an Associates degree required.Generally up to five to eight years of experience in area of responsibility.Specialized skill training / certification may be required.Have experience working with integrated computer programs and / or applications.Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test.Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s / he encounters.Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, and other presentation applications and / or software. HVAC knowledge preferred not required.
3D CAD modeling skills, Parametric modeling, NX, Catia v5, Catia V6, and Team center knowledge.
