Veterinary Cancer Group of Orange County is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our exceptional radiation oncology team! We're located in Tustin, near pristine beaches, tranquil hiking trails, superb restaurants, quaint boutiques, museums and so much more. Veterinary Cancer Group has three other sites throughout Southern California.
Requirements :
- Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience
- RVT license required
- Knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology
- Prior chemotherapy experience desired, but willing to train the right candidate
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to communicate calmly, clearly and effectively with both staff and clients
- Ability to handle high stress situations
- Willingness to cross train in other areas of the hospital
Essential Job Duties :
Able to assess changes in hospitalized patients condition and advise Doctor, updates owners on a daily basisAble to perform venipuncture, place IV catheterization, comfortable administering IV / IM / SQ injectionsAble to provide fluid therapy and drug calculationsExperienced in animal handling and restraintObtain, run and process diagnostic testAdminister and fill medicationsMust be proficient in catheterizations i.e. : urinary, i.v., including butterfly cathetersExperience in monitoring anesthesia. Induce and monitor anesthesia, recover patientsAble to facilitate the coordination of patient carePerform bone marrow aspirates, skin punch biopsies and fine needle aspirates.Can assist with radiographs or holding for ultrasonography proceduresStrong verbal communication skills- able to provide complex information in a way that is kind and understandable to our clients.Assist in patient procedures : exams, preparation of patients, present estimates and equipmentExperience and attention to detail in working with patients' medical recordsExperience with Ezyvet a plus, but not required.Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment and able to multi-taskLight housekeeping duties and restocking of treatment suppliesPerform other duties as assignedHours : Full / Part time; 10 hours shifts. Must be available to work from 8am to 7pm.
