Chief Estimator (Chicago)

As Chief Estimator / Estimating Manager, you will lead the estimating department for a well-established general contractor, overseeing all preconstruction efforts and ensuring accurate, competitive, and strategic bids across a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial projects . This leadership role is pivotal in shaping the companys growth and profitability through disciplined cost analysis, process development, and team mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating team, including training and mentoring junior estimators
• Oversee the preparation of conceptual and detailed cost estimates for all project phases
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure complete scope coverage
• Develop and maintain historical cost data and unit pricing databases
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients during preconstruction
• Analyze subcontractor bids and ensure competitive pricing and scope alignment
• Establish and refine estimating procedures, tools, and workflows
• Participate in bid strategy meetings and final proposal reviews
• Ensure quality and consistency in all estimate submissions
• Represent us in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations
