Diabetes Educator
Job Details
- Shift : 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday
- Work Location : Onsite, Palo Alto, CA
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with nursing, interdisciplinary teams and community resources to define problems, develop
- Plans and provide appropriate referrals.
- Develops, implements and evaluates cost-effective educational programs for diabetic patients, their families and communities.
- Identifies specific needs for, and means to, enhance professional development and maintain clinical competency.
- Incorporates clinical research in clinical, educational and consultative roles to provide a scientific basis for professional nursing practice.
- Knowledge of glucose monitoring systems, insulin administration technology, pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment of diabetes and complications.
- Promotes quality patient care by serving as a resource to care providers of patients with diabetes
- Provides and role models indirect care of diabetic patients.
- Teaches patients, families and staff in formal and informal settings about the care needs of diabetic patients using appropriate methodology and strategies
Requirements
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution. (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Nursing RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And / Or Compact State Licensure or
- CDCES - Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist required
Experience
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
