Job description

Are you a board-certified or board-eligible cardiologist seeking a locum tenens opportunity in a scenic part of North Carolina? This opening offers a mix of inpatient and outpatient care in a well-regarded community hospital near Barnardsville, NC. Join a dedicated healthcare team in providing comprehensive cardiology services to a growing patient base while enjoying the flexibility and support locum tenens work provides.

Position Highlights :

  • Location : Near Barnardsville, North Carolina
  • Type : Locum Tenens, covering both inpatient and outpatient cardiology
  • Start Date : January 6, 2025
  • End Date : January 10, 2025, with potential for additional locum opportunities
  • Schedule : Scheduled clinical hours plus call coverage

Job Responsibilities :

  • Provide cardiology care across outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Cover scheduled clinic time Monday to Friday, starting at approximately 2 hours per day, with potential expansion as needed
  • On-call responsibilities, including beeper call with a 30-minute response time
  • Rounding required in both inpatient and outpatient departments
  • Read and interpret cardiology test results (EKGs, ECHOs, etc.) as part of daily duties
  • Provide consults and admissions based on hospital census and clinic follow-up needs

    • Qualifications :

  • Board Certification in Cardiology required; fellowship preferred
  • Active North Carolina medical license required (NC licensure only)
  • ACLS certification required
  • Ability to obtain temporary hospital privileges if necessary
  • Minimum credentialing timeframe : 60-90 days

    • Facility Details :

  • Hospital Beds : 86-bed facility with onsite hospitalists managing admissions and initial patient care
  • Technology : EMR systems include McKesson and Athena
  • Support Staff : Dedicated RN and MA support provided onsite, along with two office staff for clinic support
  • Specialty Skills Needed :

    • Outpatient and inpatient cardiology

  • Echocardiography
  • STEMI management (non-interventional)
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Reading diagnostic testing reports (e.g., EKGs)

    • Call Details :

  • 24-hour call coverage with beeper
  • Call ratio of 100% with occasional call-backs
  • Admissions of 0-2 per 24-hour period; phone consultations ranging from 0-10 calls per day

    • Additional Information :

  • All-inclusive rates are preferred
