Description : The emergency department sees an average of 200 patients per day. This is a very busy and fast-paced acute unit. Patients of all ages are treated in this department. The patient population includes heavy trauma stabilization cases such as gunshot wounds and stabbings. There is also a heavy mental health, homeless, drug, and alcohol addiction population. Common diagnoses include stroke, respiratory illness, chest pain, abdominal pain, and diabetes-related emergencies. RN to patient ratios are typically 1 : 4. LPN to patient ratios are also typically 1 : 4. CNA to patient ratios are approximately 1 : 20. CNA and reception support are available within the department. Travelers will be required to float to all facilities within the designated region as needed. If floating mid-shift, the traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities while remaining on the clock. Weekend rotation is expected every other week. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. This position promotes teamwork within the unit.
